Leigh Howells

UX Design Consultant

Personal Site:

Leigh has been designing and creating for the web since 1994, but in recent years he’s specialised in user experience and design consultancy work. He’s been designing layouts and interfaces since the days of the Sinclair Spectrum, and making websites look better, be more organised and work more effectively since grey backgrounds were the norm.

What do you do at Headscape?

I like to consider myself a Jack of all Trades, but I doubt I’ll ever give up on trying to master at least one of them. Being required to leap confidently into all steps of the research and design process with the latest Industry thinking ready to hand has given me experience in a wide variety of skills from running stakeholder workshops, through to designing with Photoshop or HTML and SASS.

What has been your favourite project to work on and why?

My favourite project, in recent years, was the redesign of a large online learning environment for Macmillan English, called English Campus. Being a very large and complex web app, it took a lot of work to understand the product fully even before considering ways to re-imagine the interface and rework the interaction design. It was one of the biggest design challenges I’ve faced to fully wireframe, prototype, test, conceptualise and create the final user interface design.

What else have you worked on?
