Great Parchment Book

Great Parchment Book - website design

Compiled in 1639 during the reign of Charles the 1st, the Great Parchment Book of the Honourable The Irish Society is a survey of the City of London’s estates in Ulster.

The book was badly damaged by a fire at the London Guildhall in 1786 and, only recently, has been the subject of a major programme of conservation work.

Headscape created a WordPress-based website for London Metropolitan Archives that allows users to see transcripts of the book’s pages together with images of the book. The book can be navigated by the names of people, places and City of London livery companies that appear in the book.
